Sea Side Adventure

With the completion of the third cabin it was a good time to take a family vacation. Inspired by what Joelle was learning in pre school we decided to take the kids to the ocean. In total we spent 10 nights in a tent (which the kids did amazing), and 3 nights in a hotel. We had lots of rain, good adventures and lots of fun! Here are some pictures from our vacation.

we are on our way!

The kids loved the ferries

we spent a lot of time eating in the rain but it didn't seem to bother the kids

Our fist day at the beach looking for shells and other wonders. The most exciting things Joelle and Liam found all week were the little crabs that were every where on the beach

Too tired from the big day Mckaleigh pulled Troy's arm over and fell asleep

We took Joelle to a castle in Victoria and she LOVED it!

A really awesome kid park we found in Parksville, a high light for the kids

Even though it looks like a nice hot day it was 14 degrees and windy so it was chilly

Spring in Nordegg

Some days it feels like spring is FOREVER away! Over March and April we had snow at least 2 days out of the week making it hard for the snow that was already on the ground to melt. As May is almost here we still have tons of snow but the color brown is starting to show and the promise of spring. Joelle and Liam are really excited about all the mud that is around camp, which means a load of muddy, wet clothes go into the wash every night.

Another thing that spring brings to camp is new staff. They just finished up the week of staff training which was cold and had a few days with sleet and snow. Despite cold weather they paddled on the river, rock climbing training, mountain biking, group management and scenarios. We are excited for what the summer is going to bring with these new staff. We are now heading into our busy season with May and June full of school groups the camp will be full of stories and laughter. Looking forward to see what things God is going to do here this summer.

Troy and the maintenance staff are really close to having the third cabin complete, they are in the finishing touches with baseboards, paint touch ups, building the ladder brackets. It will be nice to have that project complete and back to the every day maintenance like making sure the vehicles are running.

A prayer request I have would be for the new staff that just arrived. For them to feel welcomed by the year round staff community, and for the campers that will be coming through Frontier over the next 4 months that they will see God in our staff through everything they do.

Cabins...Two are done!

It is an exacting time right now, the snow is melting and the mud is starting to appear (this makes walks very long since we have to make mud pies at every muddy spot. Joelle and Liam love it!) We have new staff that are going to be arriving at the end of April with a few returning in a few weeks. One of the most exciting things for us is that two of the three staff cabins done and the staff couples have moved in!! The couples moved in before the kitchen cupboard doors were on but were excited to move in anyway. This week next week the kitchens should be complete in the three cabins, completing the two that are already being lived in and taking one thing that can be taken off the to do list on the third cabin. Here are some pictures of the cabins before the couples moved in.
